Aberdeen Holidays
Aberdeen Holidays Destination Guide
Fuelled by the North Sea petroleum industry and oil money has made Aberdeen, Scotland’s third biggest city as expensive as Edinburg and London. Most part of the city is built using silvery grey granite hewn and thus is popularly known as the Granite City throughout Scotland. The city lies in a picturesque spot on the North Sea coast between the Dee and the Don. The city is today an important commercial and shopping centre with many sights of interest and a number of well-tended parks and gardens.
There are many places to see and visit in the city of Aberdeen and the surrounding Shire of Aberdeenshire. Ballooning in Aberdeenshire should not be missed when you are in this city. It will take you over the Castles such as Crathes Castle, Castle Fraser and various other significant landmarks. A dolphin watching trip from nearby Aberdeenshire harbours, a train trip on the Orient Express which leaves Aberdeen station or other Scottish train stations and takes you on a day trip to locations like the Isle of Skye and joining the Aberdeen Race For Life held every year in July to raise funds for Cancer Research UK are other things that you can enjoy in this city.
Aberdeen is a land of immense history and heritage. Here you can find miles of golden sand beaches, cliffs, harbours, rivers and woodland. The ancient buildings that stand tall and profoundly, creating one of the most amazing skylines within Scotland are worth visiting. The award winning museums such as the Gordon Highlanders Museum and Maritime museum, the Beach Leisure Center swimming pool with wave machine, plays and opera in His Majesty’s Theater and St Machar’s the oldest granite cathedral in the world are some major attraction of this city.
Best Time to Visit in Aberdeen
Being located in south of the UK, the climate of Aberdeen is mostly cold and tends to stay that way all year round. Aberdeen is far milder than expected for its northern location. During the summer months, it does warm up but not to high degrees. If you prefer warmer weather when visiting Aberdeen then the best months to visit are between June and September. Winter months are best if you want to visit when there are not many tourists.
